Why we exist
Bulgaria has an incredibly rich regional cuisine — but it remains invisible.
The small producer relies only on a neighbor's recommendation. The restaurant struggles to find a reliable local supplier beyond personal contacts. And the tourist rarely discovers the true, authentic cuisine behind the curtain of tourist menus.
Regional Flavors Bulgaria is a free platform, born from the idea that the three of them — the producer, the venue, and the tourist — should find each other easily, honestly, and directly.
Real food, not semi-finished products. A restaurant or hotel badge on the platform means a real, verified partnership with local producers — not a claim in the window, but a genuine, confirmed connection.
And that connection has to grow over time, not just exist once. Every venue starts with a confirmed partnership with at least 3 local producers in its first year, and the threshold rises gradually each following year — 5, then 6, then 7. The badge is not a one-time checkbox — it is earned again every year, with an ever-deeper connection to local producers.
Every region carries its own story. Bulgaria is not one cuisine — it is nine distinct culinary identities, shaped by centuries of tradition, each just an hour's drive from the next.
The small producer deserves visibility. Even without a registered company, even without a smartphone — anyone who grows or makes something real can be found and confirmed.
The tourist deserves an experience, not a showcase. We are not looking for glossy interiors — we are looking for the story behind the plate: where the cheese comes from, who made the relish, why this exact dish is a symbol of its region.
Producers publish a profile for free — product, location, type of produce. Their contact information (phone, address) is protected and visible only to registered and approved partner venues — not to every visitor.
Restaurants and hotels discover local producers and confirm partnerships directly through the platform. Every partnership is personally confirmed by the producer.
Tourists browse an interactive map of Bulgaria with authentic regional dishes — the history, ingredients, and origin of each one.
The pilot region is the Burgas Black Sea region. The remaining eight regions of Bulgaria will open gradually.
